1434 covid-19 cases in South Dakota on October 31. Japan had 770 cases, China had 33 cases, Singapore had 12 Cases, Australia 8 cases, S. Korea 126 cases, Hong Kong 3 cases, New Zealand 7 cases, Viet Nam 3 cases, Taiwan 1 case.

This is the 2nd highest number of cases South Dakota has had in one day.

Notice that South Dakota's number is MORE than the other 9 countries combined !  China and Japan have maybe 1, 125, 000, 000.

Why are all these Asian and Pacific Islands countries so low, and South Dakota numbers are so HIGH?

Discipline.

Masks.  Testing.  Contact Tracing.  Quarantine.  Washing of hands for 20 seconds.

They do it.

Maybe half of South Dakota does not do it.  And the virus spreads more, every day.

Is there any reason why we can't be doing as good as New Zealand is doing?

New Zealand is 4.8 million people.  South Dakota is 885,000 people.  That's about a 6 to 1 ratio.

So New Zealand had 7 cases on October 31.  If we were as low as they are, divide 7 by 6.  Yes, we would have 1 case on October 31, if we were as disciplined as they are.

Part of the answer is-- What is the government doing or not doing?

The other part of the answer is--What are the people doing?

We have a high infection rate because the Governor wears no mask (all leadership is leadership by example), and she and the legislative leaders have punted and said that cities or counties must decide on mask wearing or business opening requirements. 

The leaders are not leading.  They are deferring.  They are saying, Ask your city or county what you need to do.

Probably close to 50% of all people in South Dakota are NOT wearing masks.  When they have mild or no symptoms, and they wear no masks, they are potentially spreading it to 1 to 5 more people, and because these people have not gotten tests, they don't even know they are spreading it and making others sick.

In October and November, it doesn't appear that our Republican government is doing much to STOP the virus.  (The Health Department said they are waiting....until Mid-November for a possible vaccine from the Federal government).

Right now, its basically up to us.

You and me.

If you want the infection rate to go down in our State, do what the New Zealanders and Aussies and Hong Kong and Taiwan and Chinese residents do:

WEAR A Mask!  Wash your hands for 20 seconds, many times a day. 

Vote!

Change South Dakota for the better!  We can do MUCH BETTER than  this!  Honestly!

Break away from the crowd.

Vote for a new Government.  Wear a mask and be safe.
