Preamble? It Prospers Everyone!

 Here is the Preamble to the South Dakota Constitution:

"We, the people of South Dakota, grateful to Almighty God for our civil and religious liberties, in order to form a more perfect and independent government, establish justice, insure tranquillity, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare and preserve to ourselves and to our posterity the blessings of liberty, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the state of South Dakota."

Notice, that ordaining and establishing the Constitution is the final act of this Preamble.

The after effect of ordaining the Constitution is the establishment of the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary branches of the government.

But it is STUNNING to see what the PURPOSE of the Constitution is-

"...promote the general welfare..."

"....preserve to ourselves and to our posterity the blessings of liberty..."

So our Purpose here is PROMOTE the general welfare of EVERYONE and PRESERVE LIBERTY for everyone!

These are real ideas that we dedicate ourselves to, every time we VOTE or think about things.

If you interpret the "general welfare" as just promoting your own personal economic interests, you are then missing the WHOLE POWER of the Constitution as stated in the Preamble.

The Constitution is not a Radical, Liberal, Middle of the Road or Conservative Document--It is the Hopes and Dreams of all of us here in South Dakota.

How would this state BE if Liberty and General Welfare are honored every day?

The 6 purposes listed in the Preamble are what we want to accomplish as Citizens.  They are in the Constitution and the ruling Party needs to honor it, completely.

Here's what I am suggesting:  Since most of us like Liberty and Prosperity (or General Welfare), we should simply assume and believe that this is what will happen, as we persist, and get more people to vote, and believe that this is the REAL PURPOSE of our government--

Liberty and Prosperity for Every One!

Not favors for and from lobbyists, dishing out free money and tax breaks to big companies, and all the things that State government does to curry favor to special interests, big companies and favored people.

Our Standard is Everyone.

Not the few.

Dream big!

Vote Libertarian!

    Promoting the general welfare and prosperity of South Dakota, we can do that every day! Liberty and prosperity are 2 of the major purposes of our South Dakota government. Setting up rules and prisons is what Republicans have done. We can elect Libertarians and have more justice in our laws.
